What a nice surprise!!

Yesterday, my Nana came over to the house to finish up any paint touch ups that needed to be done. After she was done, she and Mommy looked it over and decided the painting was finished! When they started painting, my dresser and a big bookcase were moved into the middle of the room to get them out of the way. Mommy bought new blinds and curtain rods a few weeks ago, and they were just waiting on all the painting to be done and dry to put them up. Mommy went to church this morning, and while she was on her way home, Daddy called. (He's doing fine, by the way.) When Mommy got home she was still talking to him and she didn't notice as she pulled in the driveway that the new blinds were up on the windows to my room. It was only after she had been home almost an hour that she noticed that the blinds and curtain rods were up, the closet shelf and rod had been put back, and the shelf and dresser had been moved to where the needed to be. Boy, my Nana and Papa sure can be sneaky!! Mommy was pretty excited though. She had lots of clothes given to her for me and she's had them washed and ready to put away, but with the painting and everything moved around, she didn't have anywhere to put them. She was finally able to get the clothes put away today. And, she's happy that she can start putting stuff away in my room and getting it all nice and cozy for when I arrive.

Latest appointment

Mommy went to the doctor yesterday. Everything is fine, but I did give Mommy a little bit of anxiety for a few minutes. The doctor was trying to listen to my heartbeat and I thought it would be a good time to play hide and seek. I finally got still long enough for it to be heard, and everything is good. Mommy was given another round of antibiotics. She has a sinus infection that was bordering on becoming bronchitis. She took a round of antibiotics a couple of weeks ago. They helped, but didn't knock out all of the infection. So hopefully this round will do its magic and get rid of all the yucky stuff so Mommy can stop coughing and get some sleep at night.

Nana & Papa came over and got my room painted the day after Thanksgiving. There are a couple of places that need to be touched up and then they can start getting furniture moved in and set up. Mommy can't wait to get all the cute stuff put up. She's gonna take some pictures as she goes along and share them here.

That's all my update for now.

Ultrasound Pics

Mommy had her ultrasound today. Everything with me looks great. I was pretty active during the whole thing. Mommy was amazed at how clear some of the images were. They even got a pic of me in mid-wave!!

The ultrasound tech added in a message to Daddy on that one. Here's one that shows my face.

And finally, my profile.

Mommy, Daddy and several of their friends thought I might be a girl. Ha! I proved them wrong. The ultrasound showed I'm a boy! (they need to work on this whole "parent's intuition" thing, I think.) The tech said that right now I weigh about 13 ounces. Give or take one or two to err on the side of caution. All of my organs and body functions seem to be doing well. Now Mommy & Daddy just have to be patient and wait another 20 weeks or so for me to make my arrival. That's ok, though. The to-do list before I get here is still pretty long.

Update

Mommy is almost finished with her 18th week, which means I'm almost halfway to making my debut! While Daddy was home last week, we went back to the doctor. He said everything still looks good. Daddy got to hear my heartbeat during the appointment. He was pretty speechless about it. Which, for Daddy, is RARE! While he was home, they went and did some window shopping to decide which kind of things they want for me. Mommy did most of the deciding...Daddy pretty much just said things like "yes, that looks good." and "That one is fine with me." They found a really cute Rain Forest design and decided to use that for a lot of the big stuff. Before he left to go back to his job in the Army, Daddy told me to be good and that it would be nice if I could do my part to help keep Mommy from feeling sick. I'm doing my best, but sometimes she still gets sick. Mommy has her ultrasound scheduled for November 11. That's Veteran's Day! Since Daddy's in the Army and all, Mommy thinks thats a good sign that it will show that everything with me is progressing as it should. She also is hoping that I won't be too shy and I'll show the ultrasound tech enough so that they can know if I am a girl or a boy. I haven't made up my mind yet if I will cooperate or not. Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween!

A Milestone Reached

Dear Munchkin,

Yesterday I heard your heartbeat for the very first time. It was an absolutely amazing, wonderful, exciting, and beautiful sound. It was a breath-taking moment. I was sooooo excited to hear it and get further proof that you are growing and doing well. I only wish that Daddy had been there to hear it, too. But I told him all about it on the phone, and he was just as excited as I was. The Army is letting him come home for a few days later this month, and he'll be able to go to my next appointment with me. I can't wait for him to hear it for himself. We are both so excited about you and can't wait until you are really here for us to cuddle and hold. You are already an incredibly loved baby.

Love you forever,
Mommy

The basics

If you are reading this, you probably already know the basics. But for anyone with memory fatigue, I'll give you a quick update. The Munchkin is due to arrive around the first part of April. Yes, we have taken to calling the baby "the Munchkin". (Hey, it's a lot better nickname than some I've heard when referring to babies!) For the time being, we aren't sure if the baby is a boy or a girl. Munchkin is a pretty gender neutral nickname, and I really dislike referring to a baby as "it". Yes, we are going to try to find out the sex of the baby when we can. Are you kidding? I am too much of a planner to not know. Daniel is going to do his best (with the Army's help) to be able to be home in time for the baby's birth. (We hope anyway. This is, after all, my child. And if my impatient/stubborn streak comes through, all bets are off.) I'm going to devote this blog strictly to baby news and updates. Which, will admittedly probably not be updated all too often at first. But once the Munchkin arrives, I am certain that I will be posting here like crazy, and adding more pics than you ever thought possible. So, those are the basics for now. Hope you check back for updates soon. Thanks for reading!
